Printmaking has long been an important medium in Chinese society. It was in China, around the A.D. 860 that the world's first printed work, a Buddhist mamiscript,Was made. A thousand-plus years later, in 1983, the Council for Cultural Planning and Development organized its first international print exhibition. Every two years since then, the Council has sponsored the Taipei Fine Arts Museum to continue this tradition, attracting thousands ofartists from five continents. The exhibition reveals some of the most advanced techniques used in printmaking today. The Taipei Gallery's exhibition brings together the forty award-winning works from the past five International Biennial Print Exhibitions in Taiwan. The works offer insight into the artistic trends of several individual countries, as well as the ideas and styles which make international art movements so fresh and inspiring. (來源:展覽說明書)
